About
At Morifolk, I create original acrylic paintings in two forms: ethereal mist landscapes and abstract relic works.
Through layers of soft haze and subtle mica shimmer, my pieces trace the edge between what's seen and what can only be felt. Each painting becomes a meditation on what can't be explained.
My work has been compared to the atmospheric light of Turner, the horizon simplicity of Rothko and Sugimoto, and the quiet, meditative restraint of Agnes Martin. The emotional tone of my work comes from the things that shaped me: the eerie calm of Twin Peaks, the stillness of dusk and dawn, and the suspended tension found in classic horror films.
Behind the Name
Mori comes from the Latin mori - to die, to decay - echoing memento mori, a reminder of impermanence. Folk reflects the self-taught, earth-rooted nature of my handmade work. Together, Morifolk reflects the beauty of transformation and the acceptance of impermanence that arises from creating with my hands, using materials drawn from the natural world.
